The inauguration of Franklin Delano Roosevelt brought new hope--and a New Deal--to the American people. Amidst the Great Depression, the hopeful FDR presented his New Deal policies and government programs as a way to pull Americans out of the economic depression. Theodor Horydczak took this picture at FDR's first inaugural on March 4, 1933 in Washington, D.C. Library of Congress (Prints and Photographs Division), Theodor Horydczak Collection.
